In a dystopian 2047, the world's waters are polluted. Acid rain plagues Sydney, Australia. Under the oppressive rule of a theocratic government led by the Holy Profit. Susan Stanley, a devout believer, joins as an Enforcer. Meanwhile, her father Red Stanley uncovers the mythical Silverlight, a hidden oasis of healing water in his opal mine.

The Holy Profit intercepts Red's call to Susan and schemes to seize control of the Silverlight. To locate it, she frames Susan for murder, forcing her to flee to her father in

the outback. Along the way, she encounters Art, whose car they use for their journey. Seeking support, they stop at a miner's hangout and rally her old friends.

Pursuing them is Carson Tinley, tasked with capturing the Silverlight. Susan and Art endure a harrowing collision with a truck train and face Tinley's relentless attacks from a jetopter. Shockingly, Art's true allegiance is revealed—he has been working for Tinley all along. They are captured and imprisoned in a "Re-education" facility, and Susan experiences betrayal from Art, her mother, and her trusted institutions.

Along the way, Art has fallen in love with Susan and apologizes for tricking her. Siding with Susan and her father make a bold move—they destroy the Silverlight. The eruption of water cascades, revitalizes the water cycle, bringing rain, rivers, and streams back to life. The oppressive theocratic regime crumbles, and Susan discovers newfound trust in herself. Her unwavering spirit earns her a presidential nomination. In a testament to hope, Susan and Art find solace in each other and build a life together, marked by marriage and the birth of their child.
