Mall post office facility set to close in July

ZANESVILLE - The post office branch located inside the Colony Square Mall will soon be closing. 

According to an employee at that location, the final operating day is scheduled for July 16.

Any post office boxes or postal business conducted inside the mall will be transferred to the Zane Street post office.

Mayor Don Mason said he has been fielding dozens of calls from concerned customers since the mall post office is the only venue on the city's north end. 

"It's a heavily-used facility," he explained.

Mason has been in contact with a representative for the United States Postal Service.

"What I was told by USPS is they are looking for a location in the north end of Zanesville," he said. 

The employee at the mall was unaware of any current plans to relocate once the facility closes.
