Black Drop Coffee Opens in Scotch Plains Centre

(SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ) Black Drop Coffee, a new independent small business, is now open on Park Avenue in the heart of Scotch Plains Centre. They feature high-quality coffee, espresso, teas, and other beverages. The stylish coffeehouse is owned by Melody DeGaetano, a mom of two young children, who followed her passion to open a local spot with, what she refers to as, “elevated ambiance,” where people can connect in an intimate environment.

“One of the key factors is the size of the space. We didn’t want disconnection between the owner and staff and the customers. We’ll be on a first-name basis with them,” DeGaetano told TAPinto Scotch Plains/Fanwood ahead of her grand opening celebration.

The drink menu includes a number of signature concoctions including the Fallback (a latte featuring a blend of warm cinnamon, allspice, and the smoky aroma of cardamom) and the Salted Hudson (black-velvet cold brew capped off with their sea-salted vanilla bean cream).

“You can tell when its a really good cup of coffee. That’s because we are always using fresh beans that are roasted locally in small quantities,” explained DeGaetano, “We value variety, unique blends and single-origin beans, and our drink offerings reflects that.”

The shop is located at the former location of Salon Four, which moved into a larger nearby space that was vacated by Winter Hill Antiques.

“Thank you to the surrounding communities for such tremendous support and excitement,” posted DeGaetano at her official ribbon-cutting ceremony.
