Getter Robo is an anime series that aired from 1974 to 1975 and is considered a masterpiece of giant robot works. The TV anime version had content that could be enjoyed by children with a good vs. evil theme, but the serialized manga version was more violent and mature, and it is still supported by enthusiastic fans.

In 2025, Getter Robo will celebrate its 50th anniversary, and it was announced on April 4th that a live-action movie would be produced to commemorate this event. In conjunction with the live-action movie, a crowdfunding campaign will be held until April 19 to raise funds for the production of a "pilot film" that will bring together advanced special effects, digital technology, and special makeup.

Regarding the production of the "pilot film," there are many visually appealing but highly difficult visual images in the manga version of Getter Robo, and they are planning to create a visual prototype and test footage of special effects and VFX involving domestic and overseas creators in order to best visualize them. As a means to bring this realization closer, they have decided to seek support through crowdfunding to raise funds for the production of a "pilot film (3-5 minutes)" that will be treated as a separate budget from the production cost of the movie.
