Boy George has confessed he's had three hair transplants in three years, after previously revealing on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here he's had undergone the procedure.

The 62-year-old singer hit headlines last year after removing his hat on the ITV reality series to unveil a full head of thick, blonde hair, leaving viewers admittedly stunned to see he wasn't bald. The Culture Club hitmaker told campmate Jill Scott that he'd had surgery to achieve his luscious locks, after being impressed by Wayne Rooney's results from the treatment. The footballer shared in 2011 that he'd had a transplant, tweeting, "I was going bald at 25, why not? I’m delighted with the result.”

Boy George has now opened up about his experience with hair transplants, admitting that he went abroad to have a procedure three times in total. "It's time to confess I had three hair transplants around 2015–2018 – two in Ireland and a final one in LA – and the weird thing is no one remembers I was bald as a shaved badger," he said.

"I had a tummy tuck not long after, which was the most painful thing I’ve ever done because I went on tour straight after with the blood bag attached. I'd previously lost seven stone doing the metabolic balance diet and I needed to get rid of the excess skin."

Boy George has openly discussed his weight struggles, having dropped 40kg over the past few years after struggling with food in the past. In 2013, he revealed on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he was following a plant-based diet: "Im [sic] not Vegan or raw. I have lots of vegan and raw food. I don't have cows produce ever! I am gay though!"

He has also spoken about how fame has affected his eating habits, telling Bon Appetit in 2014: "The thing is also when you’re in a band, you travel a lot. You go into the hotel or into the gig, and there’s always food. You can get into the habit of just eating all the time. And so you have to really watch it. You know before I got famous, I was like a rake. When I was a teenager, I lived on nervous energy. And I always forgot to eat. It was not something I was obsessed with. And then suddenly I got famous, people started taking me out to fancy joints. And the pounds pile on. So I’m much more conscious now about when I eat. How I eat. What I eat."

While Boy George went to Ireland and the US to undergo his hair transplants, many Brits are choosing Turkey as their destination for the cosmetic treatment. The nation's leading international hair loss clinic, Estenove, has seen an influx of UK clients flying in to achieve their desired look and estimates that about 50% of its client base is now from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The clinic claims over 3,000 Brits have jetted abroad for the procedure at state-of-the-art clinics with leading cosmetic surgeons at a reduced price compared to that of the UK.
