Exciting news! Stamen and Earth Genome, with support from the State Department, have released a new project exploring how climate change will impact food aid to Africa. The project emphasizes the importance of incorporating native crops and listening to local communities rather than relying on large agricultural conglomerates and maize. Using data visualization and machine learning, this project sheds light on the crucial role of agriculture in Africa and the need for sustainable solutions. So! Interesting. This ^^ is what you get when you click LinkedIn's "rewrite with AI" on the text below. My original version looked more like this (and clicking on "rewrite with AI" removed it from my post):

Food, agriculture, Africa, machine learning, climate change, what's not to love?! I'm super proud of this new Stamen project with Earth Genome, mapping how food aid to Africa will need to change under different climate change scenarios. TLDR: more indigenous crops & listening to the people that live and grow there; less multinational conglomerates pushing maize where it shouldn't be grown.

I'm very interested, on multiple levels, on having AIs "rewrite" or "summarize" or "enhance" or "improve" text that I and others write about work we're doing (and many other things). But I'm also concerned about the flattening of affect, the homogenization of speech, the removal of the idiosyncracies that make language fun and unique, local idioms, and so on. My first take is that while the AI-"improved" text is clear, has nice hashtags, is well-formatted, and gets the gist correct, it's also cold, corporate, safe...I want to keep exploring this.
In the meantime, check out a new Stamen project about Africa & agriculture, and if you're interested in how AI is changing how we talk and write (and design?!) let's talk.
