I can't wait for the last few volumes tho. I want to see how everything is resolved regarding Seimei.
Even though he's such a piece of poo he's my favorite.

I remember back in early 2000s Kouga said she was only going up to 15/16 volumes - she better fucking go further than that! SO MUCH TO RESOLVE
SO MUCH COMPLEX AND CUTE STORYLINE AND FANTASTIC ART
I really kinda hate Soubi tbh though after he was revealed more to the readers in a human light I could sympathise- before he was just a manipulative emo hotcold bastard. I think Kio and Ritsuka are my fav
Any theories on who's the Loveless fighter?!

Dude.
DUDE.
The loveless fighter is OBVIOUSLY YUIKO.
THey say like 15 million times 'your fighter is someone you probably already know and don't realize'
and
and when she first sees him she literally goes PING
LIKE IT HAS TO BE
atleast- thats my theory > w >

I want g totally agree uz THAT SEEMS TGE WAY but what if she's a red herring? Because she's not unloved- her mother loves her and so does Yayoi.
I mean Yayoi is probably more unloved, as Yuiko isn't interested and he seems like a at-the-back character. JUST AN IDEA
I feel like literally anything could happen at this point is2g

I don't necessarily think it's not /being/ loved that gives Ritsuka his name of 'Loveless.' He had plenty of friends and was very well liked until his brother was found 'dead' and the trauma shifted his personality. Ritsuka himself states that he knows he is loved, but cannot feel love the same for other people, or is 'confused' by the emotion and put off by it in general. As an example, he helped a maid or someone clean and when they told him they 'really liked him' he was super confused and looked almost upset/pained about it.
What I wonder though is that if the death of his brother more-or-less 'activated' his Loveless personality and the fact he's a Sacrifice? I wonder if the body burned wasn't Ritsuka's original sacrifice - a friend Seimei brought over from high school who met Ritsuka and had that 'ping' moment.
Seimei is grossly possessive and his love for his brother borders the incestuous side. It wouldn't surprise me, personally, to know if Seimei had killed them to keep Ritsuka to himself.

That is all definitely true, but take into account how powerful some of the fighter units Names have had over their life, function and relationships. Faceless are literally unrecognisable and unmemorable,
First of all the manga is heavily insinuating that Ritsuka is a strange sacrifice because his name hasn't appeared and he hasn't got his fighter unit yet - the manga is making many characters observe how strange that is. So Ritsuka definitely has a mystery about his character - to the point that I wonder if he's even a sacrifice at ALL. No name, no fighter, Seimei is a manipulator and obsessed- him and Nisei have proven time and time again to use hypnotism and emotional abuse to plant ideas and behaviour in other people. He may even have exacerbated Ms Aoyagi's instability intentionally so she abused Ritsuka while he was gone.
I have a feeling Ritsuka wasn't activated, he was just traumatised. I think he had a shift in personality because of trauma- loss of his brother and SEEING HIS CORPSE, his mother being intensely abusive, and her abuse escalating to emotional abuse that made him lose stability with his sense of self, as she constantly and violently undermined it. The manga has recently insinuated that Ritsuka HASN'T changed at ALL, that he was always pretty grumpy and aloof but made friends fine (like he does now, with Yuiko, Yayoi, Yoji and Natsuo), that his change in demeanor was all depression, trauma and abuse-caused identity crisis. And a trauma symptom can often be depersonalisation (not recognising yourself in the mirror, believing you are a different person, etc)
ITS SUCH A COMPLEX STORY THAT DOESN'T PATRONISE ITS READERS AND HAS SUCH BEAUTIFUL ARTT

That's super true, too! Their names do play a super integral part of their lives and how they function (save the Zeros who are normal and act normal up until they feel no pain), but I often wonder how Loveless plays out in Ritsuka's life.
Seimei has been made to be an odd sacrifice, as well, and everyone states that Seimei just isn't natural. I /feel/ as if, like Seimei, Ritsuka will be an oddball too with his powers as a Sacrifice. I don't remember if the manga explicitly states when Seimei got his 'true name,' but there are a lot of parallels that Yun Kouga makes between Ritsuka and Seimei... but wordplay and the depth and darkness of the series is something the mangaka has made intentionally.
I can see where Seimei would manipulate his mother that way as he openly admits everyone but '[himself] and Ritsuka are animals.' The abuse from Ritsuka's mom started while Seimei was still at home, and Seimei protected him, but the disassociation stemmed from the trauma. I can genuinely see him using hypnosis through his words, or having Nisei do it, to make Mrs. Aoyagi only exacerbate her problems.
hhhhh I NEED TO REREAD THIS SERIES. I just really??
LIKE I'M CONFLICTED BETWEEN "HURRY AND END ALREADY SO I KNOW WHAT HAPPENS." and "NO DON'T END."

Well the Zeroes are synthetic, they were created in a lab. I imagine kinda like testtube baby and genetic engineering- idk to what point names and such get into science or even into magic, considering the manga involves both. The Zeroes were created as humanesque to function as a trump fighter unit only, I don't think it was important to Nagisa for them to really do anything else but fit in and fight.
I feel like Ritsuka has Loveless in that he's maltreated by his parents - his mother is abusive, his father neglectful, his brother abusive and neglectful - Beloved spare fighter who makes him feel all jumbled up and stressed. Maybe the Loveless unit is less about not being loved, but finding love hard to feel themselves? Ritsuka's emotional repulsion earlier on in the manga might be due to his depression and trauma, but what if his name involved that? The people around him love him, despite how many of them are so destructive- but maybe he can't feel it?
I WANT LOVELESS TO NEVER END I HAVE INFINITE PATIENCE. I WANT MORE CHARACTERS. I WANT MORE BAES. I WANNA LEARN MORE ABOUT SEVEN MOON ACADEMY (AND HOW I APPLY).
If Nisei is powerful enough to completely change an environment physically or change a person behaviourally or how they perceive things, through his powers, I have no doubt that Seimei has a similar grasp of his own powers. I know sacrifices tend not to use magic in wordspell as fighters do, but Seimei has certainly managed before he met Nisei.
I'm MORE CURIOUS about what has Seimei so fucking motivated to do what he does? Why does he NEED Soubi and Nisei? Not just for sadistic reasons surely. And why is Kio's sister on their side?! THERE'S SO MUCH AHHH ITS SO GOOD

okay but also
they keep talking about how Seimei's original fighter died and how seimei should have died with them or not taken on a new fighter. But he takes on a 'blank' called Soubi before tossing Soubi aside but why?? Soubi proves to be REALLY strong, even when paired with Ritsuka at halved power?? ANd then he takes on Nisei, but they don't ever FOR SURE say that Nisei ws a blank, unlike Soubi. Who is Nisei exactly? . w . And what happened to the original beloved Fighter?
And perhaps Ritsuka's name not having appeared has something to do with not having found his fighter? It seems most of the pairs who have their names and are weirded out by Ritsuka not having one have been together for years, like Faceless, since they were little. The zeroes too- Like maybe you name has something to do with your partner? But then again that debunks my theory of it being Yuiko.
WHO KNOWS MAN...

Idk if that DOES happen? I think you're confusing Seimei I with Soubi - when Seimei was believed dead. Seimei's original and true Beloved Fighter is Nisei
I think Seimei dumps Soubi after his faked death to sort of cement his death with a Ritsuka and Seven Moon Academy, and because he's an abusive sadist. He treats Soubi like garbage when they reunite in vol 8 in the library, where he demonstrates his own power of wordspell against the zeroes and Ritsuka.
And then, to fuck with Ritsuka more and manipulate Soubi once more, he picks him back up again to use him- as part of fighting Moonless or whatever the fuck he's doing rn. Also- he met Soubi when he was 14, first, before he'd found his actual fighter. What did he need Soubi so much for?! He met Nisei when he was 16, where he happily TORCHED A SCHOOL. WHAT WAS HE DOING AT 14

It's easier to order from bookstores or manga outlets than at conventions cuz it's not very mainstream bleach/naruto popular and it never got a huge search of popularity like SNK, Black Butler, Higurashi, etc
I love how you did the redraw. Not only captures it your style beautyfully but I also like that it makes him look cuter.
I never watched this to be honest but I love the way you draw faces.
