From a spectacular island beach resort on a private bay in Greece, a historic ski property in the Alps, or a modern sculptured art hotel in Scotland, I have curated a list of highly anticipated hotel openings for 2021 around the world. Many of these properties have continued construction despite COVID-19 as long- range investments, but could still be delayed in opening due to restrictions from each country.
This year I have listed all new properties and residences by hotel brand so that luxury travelers can visit their trusted favorites when they open and travel is allowed.
Stilted bungalows at the new Amanvari in Mexico

The luxury brand known for its wellness offerings will also open future properties in Miami (2023), New York, and Bangkok (2022).
Amanvari, East Cape Baja, Mexico
Located in Baja's East Cape, away from the hustle of Cabo San Lucas is Aman’s newest stunner. Adjacent to the recently opened Four Seasons Costa Palmas and the soon to start construction Soho Farm House, the area is transforming into the ultimate destination. The 20 contemporary accommodations are all individual bilevel pavilions within a beachfront mangrove jungle. Perched on stilts, the second floor will house the bedroom, living space, wrap-around decks, and a cantilevered private pool, while the ground floor’s indoor/outdoor lounging areas, include hammocks and fire pits. Three food and beverage outlets, a hot tub–ringed infinity pool, and a spa pavilion will join this low impact eco-friendly property.
Etéreo Auberge

The luxury brand also plans future openings in Los Olivos (2021), St. Moritz (2022), and Costa Rica.
Featuring 75 contemporary guesthouses, an Auberge Spa and two dining venues, the resort is a collection of coral stone structures designed with modern Mayan references and elevated to appear like floating islands in the tropical vegetation. The different areas of the resort are laced together by a series of discrete wooden boardwalks and pathways.
Auberge Susurros del Corazón in Punta Mita

The resort will sit on a bluff fringed by tropical jungle cascading to an intimate white sand beach on Banderas Bay. 30 residences and 59 hotel suites will be offered in this new property near Punta Mita.
Stanly Ranch Farmstead cottage
Located on the southern edge of Napa Valley, along the banks of the Napa River. 135 open space cottages with large window walls that open onto sunny patios overlooking rolling vineyards, and the Mayacamas Mountains. Other accommodations and residences will include 40 furnished Villas and 70 Vineyard Home residences.
Presidential Suite at the Bangkok Chao Phraya River

The iconic brand will also open future properties in Madrid, Tokyo, Napa Valley, and New Orleans.
Featuring 299 rooms with river views, outdoor lap pools and infinity pools, the new property will also offer up a private Four Seasons boat for excursions down the bustling Chao Phraya River. The property is interior designed by World-Renowned Architect Jean-Michel Gathy and also features a collection of art installations curated by Gathy himself.
The second Four Seasons property in the city (formerly the Loews Regency) occupies the top 11 floors of an historic downtown 48-story building with 155 rooms and suites, and will provide breathtaking panoramas of the city and the bay.
Kimpton Hotel on Roatán Island in Honduras

The chain will also open future properties in Paris (2020), Bali (2020), Bangkok (2020), Bozeman (2020), Rotterdam (2022), and Mexico City.
This new property will offer up 126 guest rooms including 43 one and two-bedroom suites and a Presidential suite. A rooftop sky bar with a glass-fronted pool, expansive outdoor pool, chef-driven restaurant, lounge and beach bars, as well as a fitness center, and luxurious spa.
Kimpton Kawana Bay Resort
Kawana Bay Resort, Saint Georges, Grenada
This hillside retreat is tucked between dramatic cliffs and the famed Grand Anse Beach. The five-star resort will offer 146 guestrooms and suites, infinity-edge pool, spa, gourmet restaurant, lounge, and beach bars.
Mandarin Oriental Palace, Lake Lucern

The brand will also open future properties in Dallas (2022), Honolulu (2022), and China (2022).
Mandarin Oriental Palace, Lake Lucern, Switzerland
Mandarin Oriental is rebranding and creating an extensive renovation of the iconic Hotel Palace Luzern which first opened in 1906 and is located in the heart of the city, on the shores of Lake Lucerne. The property will include 146 rooms and suites overlooking the lake and mountains.
MONDRIAN
The brand will also open future properties in Seoul, Dubai, and Mexico City.
The Bordeaux property will be housed within a 19th century building, and will offer 97 rooms, as well as a lounge bar, spa, meeting space and a 2,500 sf open air terrace.
The former Grand Hotel Cannes will become a new Mondrian Hotel
Previously the Grand Hotel on the city’s Promenade de la Croisette, the new Mondrian will feature 75 rooms, a restaurant and bar overlooking an expansive private garden, as well as a private beach. Mondrian Cannes features custom interiors designed by Monaco-based Christophe Poyet and Emil Humnert and world-class dining options; Argentinian concept-driven Leynia restaurant, EllaMia coffee shop, and Hyde Kitchen + Cocktails.
Montage Big Sky, Montana
MONTAGE
Located within the Spanish Peaks enclave, guests will enjoy ski-in, ski-out access to Big Sky Resort’s 5,800 skiable acres, an onsite 18-hole Tom Weiskopf-designed golf course, as well as the famed fly-fishing in the area. The modern mountain design resort will feature 150 guestrooms and suites and 39 Montage Residences.
NOBU HOTELS
The famed brand also plans future openings for Atlanta, Riyadh, and Tel Aviv
Located in Phipps Plaza, the new Nobu Hotel & Restaurant is located in a mixed-use development. A curated dining experience, and a 90,000 sf Life Time® Athletic club.
Nobu Hotel São Paulo will not only offer Nobu's famous restaurant offering directly to guests' rooms but will also feature a rooftop bar and pool, event space, fitness and health center and exclusive Nobu Residences.
Nobu Hotel and Residences Toronto
Designated as a heritage site, the base of Nobu Residences Toronto will retain the classic brick façade of the original Pilkington Glass Factory and Art Deco elements from the early 1900s. Rising above it will be two dramatic towers offering exclusive residences anchored by Toronto’s flagship Nobu Restaurant, with a signature Nobu Hotel at the top of the West Tower.
One&Only Kea Island
ONE&ONLY
One&Only Kéa Island is a brand-new beachfront resort located on the west side of Kea island in the Cyclades. The new luxury retreat, will be home to resort-style rooms, suites and villas.

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection will offer specialized voyages on the first of three custom-built yachts in 2021. Most voyages range from seven to ten nights, offering many overnight calls and uniquely curated experiences ashore. Each yacht will feature 149 suites, each with its own private terrace, and accommodate up to 298 guests.

Rosewood also plans on future openings in Hawaii (2022), Venice, Italy (2022), Vienna (2022), Doha (2022), and Vietnam (2022).
This new hotel is located in an historic 1904 building that was formerly a maternity hospital and lies at the center of Cidade Matarazzo. It will feature 151 guestrooms and 122 owners suites, two restaurants, a bar and a caviar lounge. Two swimming pools (one rooftop pool) and a large spa. The interiors were created by renowned designer Philippe Starck.
Six Senses Kitzbuehel Alps

Six Senses will open future properties in Loire Valley, France (2022), Iceland (2022), Galapagos, and Costa Rica.
Located two hours from Munich and 90 minutes from Innsbruck, this dramatic property is set in the picturesque Austrian Alps. The resort village features 80 guest rooms and suites plus 60 private Six Senses residences for sale, including 15 freestanding luxury chalets.
Six Senses Crans-Montana
Located in one of the areas most prominent ski areas, this new property is two hours by car or train from Geneva. It comprises 47 guest rooms and suites, with several Six Senses residential units already completed and available for purchase. Two restaurants are planned as well as a sun terrace and bar plus a retail space. Wellness offerings include a 22,000 square foot Six Senses Spa specializing in Alpine treatments, a gym and fitness studio, swimming pool and a suspended relaxation area.
Six Senses Ibiza Xarracabay
Located on the northern tip of Ibiza on the quiet Cala Xarraca Bay, the property features 134 guest accommodations included townhouses, pool suites and beach cave units.
St. Regis Bermuda

The brand will also open new future properties in Oman (2022), Melbourne (2022), and Marrakech (2024).
St. Regis Bermuda Resort & Residences
The St. Regis Bermuda Resort will be situated in St. Catherine’s Beach, St. George’s. The resort will include 30 luxury St. Regis branded residences ranging from 2,279 sf up to 4,693 sf. The hotel will have an additional 97 guestrooms and 25 suites. The development will also have a casino, a restaurant, a bar, a golf clubhouse and other amenities. The showstopper will be the spectacular spa built into Fort Albert, a 19th-century British defense site.
This new property features 120 hotel rooms and 60 residences. The hotel will be part of the 1,850-acre master-planned luxury Quivira community on the Baja Coast. The community includes a private beach club, village center, nature reserves and over 20 miles of walking and biking trails. Delays may push the opening to early 2022.
Waldorf Astoria Cancun

The Waldorf Astoria Cancun will provide 150 guest rooms and suites, with waterfront or mangrove-facing terraces and private balconies. The hotel will have the signature Waldorf Astoria Spa, integrating Mexican healing traditions with native ingredients for its treatments, as well as modern fitness facilities, two plunge pools, and two dining experiences.
W Hotel Edinburgh

The hotel will offer 214 stylish guestrooms, including 20 suites and one Extreme Wow Suite (the W brand’s Presidential Suite). The rooftop will feature a popular destination bar and outdoor terrace, offering guests and locals 360-degree panoramic views of the historic skyline, along with a cutting-edge approach to cocktails and cuisine. Other areas will include W Lounge, a signature restaurant, FIT workout facility, and an AWAY Spa.
W Hotel Rome
Perfectly situated near the Spanish Steps and fashion boutiques of Via Condotti, W Rome will become a popular destination in the Via Veneto district. Spanning a pair of adjacent 19th century properties on Via Liguria, the hotel will feature 159 stylish guest rooms and suites
Pendry Park City

Pendry Park City will be a prime ski-in/ski-out location with a modernist take on a traditional alpine lodge. The resort will feature 152 guestrooms and suites, along with the fully serviced Pendry Residences Park City ranging in size from studios to four-bedroom homes.
Conrad Las Vegas

Located on the site of the former Stardust Resort and Casino, the Resorts World Las Vegas development will feature the Hilton and Conrad brands integrated into two resort towers on property. Resorts World Las Vegas has 3,500 rooms total, approx. 1,700 will be Hilton, while approx. 1,500 will be Conrad and approx. 300 will be LXR.
Navarino Bay Earth sheltered villas
Costa Navarino is located in Messinia in the southwest Peloponnese. Home to two 5-star deluxe hotels, The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort and The Westin Resort, Costa Navarino, Anazoe Spa, a 4,000m2. spa & thalassotherapy center, two signature golf courses, over 20 fine dining venues. The resorts are part of Costa Navarino’s development of three new areas for the destination: Navarino Hills, Navarino Bay and Navarino Waterfront.
The luxury hotel at Navarino Bay will offer 99 suites and pool villas on the waterfront. The resort will have an earth-sheltered design with the buildings blending into the curved hillside with planted roofs.
Alaia Belize Hotel and Residences
This new eco-resort community, part of the Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel, and will offer up a 155-unit complex with hotel rooms, condos, and oceanfront villas just off the shore of diving sites and the famous Great Blue Hole.
