1. One World Trade Center – 541 metres (1,776 ft)
One World Trade Center is not only one of the ten tallest skyscrapers in New York but also the tallest building in the Western world, and the seventh-tallest on Earth. Construction began on 27th April 2005, five years after the 9/11 attacks that destroyed the original World Trade Center. 3. Steinway Tower – 435 metres (1,428 ft)
This building, 111 West 57th Street, also called Steinway Tower (after the original building that stood on this spot), is another recent addition to the iconic New York City skyline. Completed in 2022, Steinway Tower may not be the tallest skyscraper in New York, but it’s certainly one of the most visually striking: it’s the narrowest residential skyscraper in the world! In fact, its width allows for only one residence per floor.

Situated within one of the city’s tallest buildings, 432 Park Avenue stands as a pinnacle of opulence and architectural marvel in New York.
6. 270 Park Avenue – 423 metres (1,388 ft)
270 Park Avenue, also known as the JPMorgan Chase Building is the latest architectural marvel renowned for its innovative design features and sustainable elements that are said to redefine modern skyscraper construction. At the time of writing, the fifth and final tier of this giant structure is being erected, and construction is due to finish at some stage in 2025.
7. 30 Hudson Yards – 387 metres (1,270 ft)
Another of New York’s tallest skyscrapers is 30 Hudson Yards, also known as North Tower. It’s located on the West Side of Manhattan and is part of an urban development project in New York. Its modern architecture is designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, one of the world’s leading architectural firms responsible for other famous buildings, including the Shanghai World Financial Center. 8. Empire State Building – 381 metres (1,250 ft)
The iconic Empire State Building held the title of the world’s tallest skyscraper until 1971 when the north tower of the World Trade Center surpassed it. However, following the tragic events of 9/11 and the destruction of the World Trade Center, the Empire State Building regained its supremacy in the New York skyline until 2012. Renowned globally, this architectural marvel boasts immense historical significance. Its construction commenced after the demolition of the prestigious Waldorf Astoria, New York’s esteemed 19th-century hotel. Notably, its inauguration in 1931 coincided with the onset of the Great Depression, adding to its remarkable historical context.
