MADISON, Wis.--()--Hilldale Shopping Center is pleased to announce the first group of retailers that will be opening in the newly designed project in fall 2014. WS Development, the Massachusetts based firm that owns and manages Hilldale has plans for a major redevelopment to include an open-air lifestyle layout with a host of new stores that will enhance the shopping experience for the Madison Market.

The redevelopment plan proposes to take the existing enclosed mall area between Metcalfe’s and Macy’s and create an open air streetscape. The plan will deliver outward facing storefronts along the existing streets in this area, and add an open-air retail connection through a pedestrian walkway to the west parking lot with additional storefronts. The City entitlement process has begun and construction is scheduled to begin in early 2014.

A sampling of the stores coming to Hilldale include:

Sur La Table plans to open a store in the new shops offering the finest cookware, cutlery, kitchen electronics, bake ware and more. Founded in 1972, Sur La Table is a place where serious cooks will find a surprising selection of culinary tools from around the world with helpful, knowledgeable staff who loves cooking too. The store will feature its popular cooking class program offered in-store featuring variety of cooking and entertaining demonstrations. Sur La Table is the perfect complement to the existing merchandise mix in the home accessory category.

Pure Barre, considered the fastest, most effective way for clients to change the shape of their bodies, just opened on August 9th. Pure Barre offers a unique exercise experience that uses small isometric movements at the ballet barre set to motivating music. Special sign-up incentives are currently being offered at the Hilldale Studio. To register go to the studio, log on to www.purebarre.com or call (608)238-3610.

Morgan Shoes, Stride Rite and New Balance – All three concepts will be moving to the new development. “As a long time tenant and staple of Hilldale Shopping Center, we are delighted to be part of the redevelopment of the center. It is sure to offer a dynamic new shopping experience for the Madison Market and will be an amenity to the area” said Ken Morgan, owner and operator of Morgan Shoes, Stride Rite and New Balance. Ken Morgan has been a tenant at Hilldale since 1961 and has played a major role in the merchandising mix of the center.

“We are excited about the direction planned for Hilldale Shopping Center” said Michael McNaughton, SVP from WS Development. “The property has been an important part of the Madison community for over 50 years and this redesign will complement the existing Macy’s, Sundance Cinema, Metcalfe’s and local retail flavor of Hilldale. Our goal is to create an exceptional and diverse shopping, dining and entertainment experience thoughtfully planned to serve the growing Madison market for decades to come”.
